Slovenian politician and former MEP Jelko Kacin, in the TV show „Živa Istina“ („The Living Truth“) on Atlas TV (a post-Yugoslav TV station) at Friday, 22-V-2015, refereeing to the government of ruling VMRO-DPMNE, said that FYROM has no European future whatsoever with its Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski. He described the rule of Gruevski as one of „political confrontation“and „political lynching [of opponents] “.Jelko Kacin added that the invention by Gruevski of a pseudohistory in which „Greeks were barbarians until Alexander the Great [with which, Kacin stated, Gruevski’s followers identify] did not civilized them“doesn’t lead to good neighborly relations and that Skopje 2014 is an „Disneyland of such story“.
Kacin added that the only time the official Skopje was properly performing reforms for harmonization of legal and structural aspects of the state with the European Union was under the SDSM’s government of Radmila Šeќerinska (2004). He commented that now the country is experiencing declining standards in all social and legal aspects. Kacin rejected the opinion that „Greece deliberately halts FYROM for no good reason“and stated that the chief problem is bribe and corruption as well as organized crime by the closely-linked top-level governmental officials led by Gruevski. He described this structure as the one that gives, via corruption, a ‘green light’ to every process in the country.
Kacin called the present state of political culture in FYROM as “brainwashing of citizens via the media” and “invention of enemies” as the “oldest form of manipulation with [any] nation”. Ultimately, Kacin stated “Macedonia [sic] should take a good look in the mirror”.
Jelko Kacin concluded his thoughts on Nikola Gruevski, on a talk-show about the European future of Western Balkan countries, that Nikola Gruevski has no friends abroad and the citizens of FYROM should change the government so that they may „breathe fresh air with full lungs“and return to reformist path leading to EU.
