FYROM: President Ѓorge Ivanov Addressed the Nation
President of FYROM, Ѓorge Ivanov, addressed the nation after the session of the Security Council at 20.15 local time (21.15 Greek time). He started with description of the (by now neutralized) Albanian militant group as a “collection of criminals which planed simultaneous attack on various targets throughout the country” and mentioned that in prior week he kept contact with 17 foreign secret services for the prevention of this incident.
Ivanov proceeded to mention that the group had ‘no support among local or international factors’. During his press-conference he directly blamed the status quo regarding EU and NATO integrations as representing a source of “frustration and tensions among ethnic groups of FYROM”. He urged, obviously alluding to the mass-surveillance scandal, that all political parties should have sense for priorities and that they should cast their difference aside for the benefit of the nation.
The brief monologue was not accompanied by opportunity to journalist which were present in Presidential Palace to ask questions.
