During today’s press conference in SDSM (Social Democratic Party) in its headquarters of Skopje, party’s President Zoran Zaev provided few new illustrations about governmental interference in media affairs. Several leaked phone-calls among a variety of governmental figures, such as between Minister of Interior Gordana Jankulovska with both Ivo Kotevski (police spokesperson) as well with Martin Protuѓer, the gray eminence of foreign politics were presented, featuring orders to media, such as the national TV broadcaster MRT as well as to the private extremely pro-government SITEL TV.
These orders consisted of concrete instruction how and when to broadcast particular news information, likely in order to cause planned emotional impact upon citizens of FYROM. Some of these conversation featured threats to employment of particular journalists due to their failure to promote the party line of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE. While this disclosure on today’s press conference provided material similar to the one presented to the media on the last press-conference, Zaev hinted that over 100 journalists, whose communication were illegally targeted after the throwing out of opposition Parliament members in December of 2012, will get copies of their intercepted phone calls.
Zaev also added that new facts about the death of country’s most prominent investigative journalist, Nikola Mladenov, whose fatal car-accident is widely considered to be suspicious, shall be presented to the public in near future.
